Orthogate Now at Orthogate.org

You may have noticed that Orthogate is now being redirected to the URL www.orthogate.org. That's right .org instead of .com

We will be phasing out usage of the Orthogate.com domain over the next several weeks.

Why are we switching from Orthogate.com to Orthogate.org?

Unfortunately one of the previous members of the Orthogate group who owns the actual domain name does not share the same academic interests as the other individuals who manage the Orthogate Project. This individual was unwilling to reassure us that the Orthogate.com URL would remain under the guidance of the Internet Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma (ISOST).

We felt that the best way to protect the significant amount of work and effort that the current active individuals who manage Orthogate was to migrate the site to Orthogate.org which we have complete control over.

We wish Dr. Eugene Sherry all the best with the domain Orthogate.com and hope that he gets his 1 million dollar asking price for its rights despite the URL being valued by several third party domain appraisal companies for $1000 or less.

I would ask all current users of Orthogate to make note of the domain name change to the .org extension and to help Spread the Word!

What can you do to help Orthogate?

To help with the transition you can keep your eye out for websites that currently link to www.orthogate.com and ask them to change their link to www.orthogate.org

- Make sure that your Department of Orthopaedic Surgery website links to the .org domain - www.orthogate.org

- Make sure that any orthopaedic organisations or associations that you belong to link to the .org domain - www.orthogate.org

- Send emails to webmasters of websites that you come across that link to www.orthogate.com and ask them to update the URL to www.orthogate.org

We will be sending out emails to websites that we have contact information for that link to www.orthogate.com but your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
