image11.gif (10639 bytes) The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has recently upgraded their complex website making it easier to reach the enormous amounts of information available on the site. Navigation is provided by drop down menus from the top and pop-up menus from the side. The lowest part of the home page has business details of the organization. Lastly there is a link to the Bone and Joint Decade US website.

This section of the site includes a number of teaching resources including the schedule of on-line CME courses. - currently Post-Operative ACL Rehabilitation Course and Nonoperative Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis
The "Orthopaedic Short Stories" are interesting case presentations by acknowledged experts
"Learning Resources" are the online journal, Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, other Clinical Journals, Business Journals and Reference works
The AAOS offers on-line self-evaluation programs for sale
There are also links to information on the 2001 Annual Meeting program, a calendar of CME courses put on by the AAOS and a catalog of Educational Resources such as Publications, CD-ROMs, Videotapes, Audiotapes and 2001 CME Courses.
Software Information offers links to downloads for plugins and anti-virus.
Tutorials are offered on basic and advanced Internet topics such as searching and web page editing.

The "Find a Surgeon" facility allows individuals to obtain a list of AAOS members in different geographic regions across the world.

A comprehensive account of the meeting with timetable of all scheduled ICLs, presentations, lists of exhibits and posters and full text of many of the symposia hand-outs. On-line registration for members is available up to 6 weeks prior to the meeting. Abstracts of all presentations are available.

The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery has full text on-line for members of the AAOS. JBJS (US) is also on-line to its subscribers and offers free full text of some articles and editorials as well as full text for subscribers.
